Retired Police Officer Who Built His Own Grave Finally Receives His Coffin

In September of last year, a remarkable incident concerning a retired police officer who was in the process of organizing his funeral before his passing has received his coffin.

Mzee Sabasita made headlines at that time after it was revealed that he was actively involved in preparing his grave to meet his desired standards and appearance.

Additionally, Mzee Sabasita disclosed that he not only arranged for his grave but also had plans to procure a coffin for his final journey.

Now, the latest development is that Mzee Sabasita has finally received his coffin from carpenters who have been crafting it for the past six months.

According to reports, upon receiving his coffin, Mzee Sabasita expressed great joy at the craftsmanship that took over six months, stating that all he is now waiting for is his demise.

“I am truly delighted. Today is a day of great happiness for me. This day stands out for me because I have received what I informed the public about – after preparing the grave, now I am waiting for the coffin,” the retired police officer said.

“The coffin is beautiful, and I am pleased with it. I paid three million, but I have received something whose quality matches the amount I paid. Now, I await death,” he added.

Initially, he estimated that his grave would cost seven million, but he mentioned that as he received advice from various people, improvements were made. So far, he has spent a total of thirteen million, including ten million on the grave and three million on the coffin.

In an interview last year, he defended his decision to prepare for his funeral, saying that he did not want a situation like that of his late parents who were not financially prepared.

“I’m doing these things to avoid the inconveniences I witnessed in 1995 when my parents passed away. But also, to reduce the costs for my family and to let people know that death is inevitable. Every day, as we age, our lifespan decreases by one day,” Mzee Sabasita said at that time.
