Busia School Fire Victim Families Get Shs5m Each

The Ministry of Education and Sports, representing the government, has donated Shs5 million to each family mourning the loss of the four students who tragically died in the Busia school fire.

The devastating fire, which occurred earlier this week, destroyed the dormitory at Victory Nursery and Primary School in Busia District, claiming the lives of four pupils.

An additional Shs1 million has been provided to the family of a child who was injured in the incident.

Francis Atima, the director of education standards in the Ministry of Education, personally delivered the contributions on behalf of the minister.

In a related incident, Atima visited Bill and Polly Nursery and Primary School in Mariachi “B” South East Ward, where a separate fire incident occurred, resulting in the loss of pupils’ property. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from this incident.

In the aftermath of these incidents, seven individuals have been taken into custody to assist with the ongoing investigations.
