In Mayuge District, Eastern Uganda, a 30-year-old man was chased down and killed following allegations of him raping and murdering his 55-year-old aunt in Isinda village, Kigandalo Sub County. The spokesperson for Busoga East Police, Diana Nandaula, confirmed the two fatalities but refrained from providing further details, stating that more information is still being collected.
Bumali Kawanguzi, the LCI chairman of Isinda village, reported that the local residents, enraged by the incident, hunted down and killed Muhammed Baligasima after discovering that he had allegedly raped and killed his aunt, Mwajuma Mutesi Nabirye, just under an hour prior. Kawanguzi learned about the tragic deaths of the two villagers at around 7:50pm on Wednesday, and was informed that the attack on the aunt took place at 7pm.
Kawanguzi added that Nabirye was married to Yakuti Kafero, who is a younger sibling of Baligasima’s father. He also mentioned that Nabirye’s lifeless body was discovered unclothed in her home, surrounded by blood.
Henry Morton Mukisa, the LC3 chairperson of Kigandalo Sub County, revealed that Baligasima had recently been released from prison where he had served a sentence for defilement. Mukisa also stated that the police arrived at the scene and transported both bodies for postmortem examination.
