Man shot dead while stealing scrap in a Jinja factory

Security guards from Priority One security group deployed at Abyssinia Iron and steel in Jinja Saturday evening shot dead one suspected thief and managed to arrest another as two others took off.

The police said Sunday morning that all four suspects including one only identified as Reagan who was shot dead are residents of Danida in Walukuba–Masese, Jinja city.

“They were caught red handed stealing scrap belonging to Abyssinia iron and steel Jinja branch on April 20, 2024 at around 9pm,” confirmed Kiira REGION police spokesperson, James Mubi.

Police has identified the suspect in their custody as John Buwale a 24-year-old youth.

“We have also recovered exhibits of scrap,” added Mubi who said the search for the two suspects still at large was ongoing.

The deceased’s body has been taken to Jinja main hospital.
