Landslide displaces more than 200 People in Bulambuli

A landslide that occurred yesterday in Bulambuli District has left more than 200 people displaced and property destroyed.

The landslide hit the villages of Doba, Gibangayi, Mashup, and Mabambu in Doba Parish, Nabiwutulu Sub County.

Bosco Wamakuyu the LCI Chairperson for Doba village says that one of the residents lost three cows and the rest sustained injuries.

Fred Gimeyi another resident says other people whose houses are submerged in water have sought refuge at Tunyi Primary School. With crops destroyed, Gimeyi says there is a need for relief support since the affected people are on the verge of starvation.

Annet Nandudu the Bulambuli LCV Chairperson says a comprehensive report about the disaster is being compiled before being forwarded to the disaster preparedness ministry.
