Police in Namayingo are holding a man who reportedly tied the hands of his 12 year old daughter with banana fibers, sprinkled paraffin before setting fire on them.
Henry Sida, 43, allegedly accused the victim for asking him to pay her school fees.
This reporter learnt that the victim’s biological mother separated with the suspect some years ago.
Sida was arrested from his home in Namayingo after the chairman LC one of the area, Mr Charles Makhulo tipped off the district authorities on Monday, 27th May, 2024.
However, the authorities had to fight hard to restrain residents from lynching the suspect, who was whisked to Namayingo police station.
The Namayingo deputy resident district commissioner, Mr Trevor Baleke Solomon confirmed Sida’s detention and said he will appear in court to answer charges of causing grievous harm.
Medical personnel at Buyinja health centre IV said the burns on the arms of the toddler were severe.
Mr Baleke said the security team who apprehended the suspect also brought the victim to Buyinja health centre IV where she is admitted.
