Prominent Masaka Businessman Killed in Road Accident

A well-known businessman from Masaka died in an accident on Monday morning when the truck he was traveling in collided with another truck at Kalagala village, Mpigi Town Council on the Kampala-Masaka Highway.

One of the Family members revealed that the deceased, a resident of Nyendo in Masaka City, was a coffee trader in the greater Masaka region.

Nsibambi had made a business trip to Kampala City on March 10, 2024, but tragically lost his life in a vehicular accident on his return journey.

The victim was identified as Haji Muzamiru Matembe Nsibambi by Mr. Karim Majid, the spokesperson for the Katonga region police.

The damaged trucks were hauled to the police station for further examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

Mr. Majid stated, “The body of the deceased was transported to Gombe Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem as the police investigate the possible cause of the accident,”

Mr. John Kalyesubula, a resident of Kalagala village in Mpigi Town Council and one of the first responders, said that on Monday, he heard a loud crash while walking home at 2 am.

He said, “Around 2 am, I heard a loud crash. When I hurried to the scene, I saw occupants from two trucks involved in the accident struggling, but one person had already died on the spot. The people around were attributing the accident to the driver of a Sino truck that was allegedly speeding.”
