The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested the acting District Education Officer (DEO) of Kaberamaido, Richard Elyebu.

The arrest was made under the instructions of the State Minister for Economic Monitoring, Beatrice Akello.

Elyebu is accused of charging P.7 pupils 15,000/ for UNEB examination registration, an allegation that has stirred controversy in the district.

Minister Akello is currently in Kaberamaido for her routine monitoring of government projects. The arrest of Elyebu during her visit has brought the issue of corruption in the education sector into sharp focus.
