Dealing with loss is a challenging journey filled with unpredictable emotions and overwhelming grief.

For one family in Chanda village, Lusui, Kakamega County, the pain of loss was doubly felt as they mourned the passing of both mother and son within days of each other.

Joseph Chama Asuza, affectionately known as Asuu, tragically lost his life just days after bidding farewell to his mother.

The heartbreaking sequence of events unfolded when Asuu’s mother passed away due to cardiac arrest, leaving the family devastated.

As a former Kenyan football player who had once donned the jersey for Red Berrets, Asuu had carved a promising career path for himself.

However, in recent years, he had transitioned to working as a security officer with the UN in the USA, showcasing his dedication to service and commitment to supporting his family.

Upon learning of his mother’s passing, Asuu immediately made arrangements to return home to Kenya to attend to the funeral preparations.

Accompanied by his younger brother, he journeyed back to his rural home to oversee the arrangements for his mother’s burial, scheduled for the coming Saturday.

Tragically, the family’s grief was compounded when Asuu met his untimely demise under distressing circumstances.

On Sunday morning, while traveling with his brother in an Uber along Thika Road, Asuu reportedly threw himself out of the moving car.

Despite efforts to avoid oncoming vehicles, he was struck and fatally injured, succumbing to his injuries at the scene.

Reports indicate that Asuu appeared visibly distressed and overwhelmed by the loss of his mother, highlighting the profound impact of bereavement on one’s mental and emotional well-being.

The sudden and tragic nature of his death serves as a stark reminder of the complexities of grief and the toll it can take on individuals grappling with loss.

In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, the community mourns the loss of a talented footballer and dedicated son, while grappling with the profound sense of loss and disbelief.

Asuu’s tragic passing serves as a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of mental health support during times of grief and loss.

As the family and community come together to mourn the loss of Asuu and his beloved mother, they are reminded to cherish the moments spent together and to seek solace and support in each other during this difficult time.
