SFC  Dismisses Claims Of Killing NUP Supporter

Nile Post | The Special Forces Command(SFC) has dismissed reports that one of their soldiers had shot and killed a National Unity Platform supporter in Kampala.

An NUP supporter on Saturday evening posted on X claiming that one of their colleagues had been shot dead at Bwaise roundabout by an SFC soldier who was traveling on a police pickup.

However, in a brief statement, SFC public information officer, Maj Jimmy Omara said the tweet being circulated by one Motive Kasagga is fake and deserves to be taken with contempt.

“No such an incident was not recorded anywhere our troops operated. This is to warn the propagators of this falsehood to stop forthwith, otherwise, your continuous false allegations against the institution of SFC shall be met with the full force of the law,” Maj Omara said.

He insisted that the claims are being circulated by “NUP radicals” but noted that the Special Forces Command will not be distracted from its work by anyone.

The claim being circulated was made hours after NUP president, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine returned to the city after attending a memorial service for Ritah Nabukenya, an NUP supporter who was knocked dead by a vehicle in 2020.

The service was in Kiboga.

The opposition party has since accused a police vehicle  registration number UP 4841 of knocking Nabukenya as she travelled to attend a consultative meeting the party had organised for its presidential candidate.

Police however denied the claims that Nabukenya was killed by their vehicle.
