Woman Stabs Lover To Death In Fight Over Child Neglect

A woman in Nateete, a region in Rubaga Division, Kampala, is currently in police custody facing murder charges.

The charges stem from an incident where she is alleged to have fatally stabbed the father of her child due to his apparent failure to provide for her.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan police, reported that the woman, Janat Natukunda, attacked Ronald Kintu, also known as Rasta, following a disagreement over financial support for their child’s medical care.

The dispute took place in Nateete Central B Zone, Mabiito, Rubaga Division, within the Kampala District, during which Natukunda is said to have stabbed Kintu in the neck and chest with a knife.

Despite immediate attempts to rush him to Mengo Hospital, Kintu unfortunately passed away from his injuries upon arrival. This tragic event occurred at 4:45am on a Monday.

A knife stained with blood was found at the scene and is currently being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

The 2023 Annual Police Crime Report indicates that a total of 14,681 cases of domestic violence were reported across the country, with the main causes being disputes over family property, failure to provide for families, drug and alcohol abuse, and infidelity, among others.
