Erias Lukwago Undergoes Successful Spinal Surgery In India

In a heartening update shared with his followers on social media, Kampala’s esteemed Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, has revealed the successful outcome of his recent medical journey. Lukwago disclosed that he underwent a delicate spinal surgery in India, which proved to be a resounding success.

The Mayor expressed profound gratitude for his recovery, emphasizing that he has emerged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Fortis Memorial Hospital in India, where he valiantly battled for his life during the surgery. Lukwago’s resilience and the medical team’s expertise were hailed as instrumental in his positive outcome.

“Glory be to the Gracious Lord whose mighty Will made it possible for me to wake up from the operation theatre and the Intensive Care Unit of Fortis Memorial Hospital, Grugram, India where I spent several hours battling for life,” Lukwago shared in a statement.

The journey to India for treatment commenced after Lukwago received a referral from a doctor and consultant orthopedic at Mulago Hospital. A medical report dated April 13th underscored the urgent necessity for spine surgery due to Lukwago’s diagnosis of C6-7 cervical discopathy, commonly known as C7 nerve root herniation. Symptoms of this condition, including pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and middle finger, had been afflicting Lukwago, despite previous treatments such as painkillers.

The decision to undergo surgery was made after Lukwago found little relief from conventional treatments, opting for a more effective solution to alleviate his suffering.

As Lukwago continues his journey towards full recovery, his supporters and well-wishers await further updates on his progress. The successful outcome of his spinal surgery serves as a beacon of hope, underscoring Lukwago’s determination to overcome adversity and return to his duties with renewed vigor.

“We will keep you posted,” Lukwago assured his followers, signaling his unwavering commitment to transparency and communication throughout his health journey.
