Police Launch Manhunt For Armed Attackers Who Shot Teacher And Pupil In Moroto

An unsettling incident occurred at a school in Loureepe village, Katikekile Subcounty, on April 30, 2024. This event resulted in two individuals being injured and initiated a police search for the individuals responsible.

Eyewitnesses report that suspected Karamojong warriors armed with weapons targeted the residence of Achak Paul, who is a teacher at Nakiloro Community School. Both Achak and a student named Looki Moses were injured in their legs during the attack, as reported by Marget Lokii to Nile Post.

In response to the incident, Nakiloro’s joint security forces arrived at the scene. They ensured the safe evacuation of the injured individuals to Moroto Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention.

To aid in the investigation, a group of detectives, along with a police dog, were sent to the scene. Their mission was to conduct a thorough investigation and track down the individuals responsible for the attack.

Mike Longole, the spokesperson for Karamoja Police, confirmed that efforts are being made to locate and apprehend the criminals involved in this appalling act. He assured that they are committed to ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.

While the reason behind the attack remains unclear, the police are considering all potential motives. The incident has left the school community in a state of shock, leading to calls from residents for enhanced security measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

As the investigation progresses, the police are encouraging anyone with information related to the attack to step forward. This will aid in the pursuit of justice for the victims.
