MUBENDE – In a joint operation with the local police, the Statehouse Anti-corruption Unit have arrested three Mubende District Local Government officials on allegations of abuse of office and neglect of duty.
The arrested officials are John Baptist Muzibira, the District Engineer, Kamya John Birungi, a Civil Engineer, and Ssendikadiwa Vito Bosco, the Acting District Health Officer.
The allegations stem from their roles in managing a project for the extension of a maternity ward and constructing a waiting shed at Kibalinga Health III in the Mubende District. It is alleged that Bosco, as the contract manager, and the two engineers, as project supervisors, failed to effectively manage the project. This alleged mismanagement resulted in the non-completion of the project and visible shoddy work.
The trio have been detained at the Mubende Central Police Station as investigations are being finalized. They are expected to appear in court once the investigations are completed.
The Statehouse Anticorruption Unit is committed to ensuring accountability and transparency in public offices. This arrest sends a strong message that corruption and neglect of duty will not be tolerated.
