Mubende district engineer, two others remanded

Three Mubende district officials were on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, charged with neglect of duty and conspiracy to commit a felony before the Mubende Chief Magistrate’s Court and remanded to Mubende District Prison until April 30, 2024.

The trio, John Baptist Muzibira the district engineer, John Kamya Birungi, a civil engineer, and Vito Bosco Ssendikadiwa the acting district health officer, were arrested last week on allegations of abuse of office and neglect of duty.

They were arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) working with the Police after they allegedly failed to effectively manage and supervise the construction project at Kibalinga Health Centre III, resulting in non-completion and visible shoddy work.

The state alleged that Ssendikadiwa, the contract manager, and the two engineers, being the project supervisors, failed to effectively manage the project which resulted in non-completion and visible shoddy work of an extension of a maternity ward and construction of the waiting shed at Kibalinga Health III in Mubende District Local Government.
