Fake Police Officers Attempt To Access Luzira Prison

Two individuals, masquerading as senior Police officers and donning official Police uniforms complete with name tags, have attempted to access Luzira Prison – Murchison Bay in Kampala city.

Identified as Don Miles Mugerwa and Twaha Wamala, both residents of Katabi in Wakiso district, the men purportedly sought to visit a friend, Brian Sempijja, incarcerated at the facility.

The impersonation raised suspicion among prison authorities, who promptly alerted law enforcement.

Deputy Police spokeswoman Clare Nabakka revealed that Mugerwa’s uniform lacked the corresponding ranks consistent with an Assistant Superintendent of Police warrant card, triggering apprehension.

Addressing journalists at the Police headquarters on Monday, Nabakka confirmed the suspects’ arrest.

Currently detained at Jinja Road Police Station, Mugerwa and Wamala await further inquiries into their motives for attempting to access the prison facility under false pretence.

The incident has sparked an ongoing investigation to uncover the full extent of their intentions.
