80 Year Old Woman Burnt To Death While Smoking Cigarette

An 80 year old woman was on Thursday night burnt to death while smoking a cigarette.

The woman identified as Yeko Anyesi, a resident of Gamatui Village, Gamatui parish, Sipi Sub-County, Tingey County, kapchorwa district was burnt beyond recognition.

According to residents, it’s suspected that the woman returned from Gamatui trading center late in the evening where she had gone to take the local brew (komek). However, she returned home drunk and decided to smoke before sleeping.

Unfortunately as being drunk, she smoked the cigarette and threw the filter which was still lighting accidentally on the beddings.

The bedding caught fire while she was tired and unaware of what was happening.

The fire burnt her to death as she was asleep. The body was taken to Kapchorwa Mortuary for postmortem.
