Man Drinks Rat Poison After Hacking Wife To Death

A man, 35 years old and a resident of Namutumba district, is currently in a critical condition after he fatally attacked his wife and subsequently attempted suicide by consuming rat poison.

The horrifying event occurred in Vumba Village, Kakabala parish, Butuntumula Sub County in Luwero district on the morning of Sunday, 21st April, 2024, as reported by ASP Twiineamazima Sam, the Police Spokesperson for the Savannah region.

Initial information suggests that the deceased woman, along with her daughter, arrived from Namutumba district on 19th April, 2024 to visit her husband. Since her arrival, the couple had been living together and were reportedly involved in several domestic disputes.

On the night of Sunday, the suspect, Musana Sosipatero, a Musoga by ethnicity and a casual laborer, strangled his wife, whose identity remains unknown to the local community.

On the morning of 21st April, 2024, neighbors, alerted by the crying of the child, discovered the open house and found both the deceased woman and the suspect lying on the floor. The woman had succumbed to two deep wounds on her neck and hand, while the man was suspected of poisoning himself with rat poison, the smell of which permeated the house.

The incident was promptly reported to the police by a local named Katumba, leading to the registration of a murder case. Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) visited and documented the scene. The deceased woman’s body was transported to Luwero hospital for a postmortem examination, while the suspect was rushed to the same hospital for treatment. The child was placed in the care of local leaders.

Despite the ongoing investigation, no murder weapon has been recovered as of yet.
