CDF Muhoozi Mourns Fallen Kenyan Military Leader Gen. Francis Ogolla Calls For Unity In East Africa

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces in the UPDF, paid tribute to the late Kenyan Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla, highlighting his profound impact on regional security.

Reflecting on Gen. Ogolla’s distinguished military career, Gen. Kainerugaba recounted a poignant moment during the 2012 tragedy of UPDF helicopters crashing into Mt. Kenya. As the commander of Nanyuki Air Base, Gen. Ogolla exemplified unwavering dedication by personally leading the search and rescue efforts, ultimately saving the lives of two helicopter crews.

Expressing solidarity with Kenya and the wider East African community, Gen. Kainerugaba conveyed heartfelt condolences to His Excellency William Ruto, the KDF fraternity, and all those affected by the loss.

“In these trying times, may the Almighty grant strength to General Ogolla’s family,” Gen. Kainerugaba remarked, emphasizing the indelible mark left by Gen. Ogolla’s selfless service. He urged fellow comrades in the KDF to honor Gen. Ogolla’s legacy by steadfastly pursuing the shared goal of a more secure East Africa.

Gen. Francis Ogolla met his untimely demise on Thursday in a tragic helicopter crash, claiming the lives of all on board except one survivor, who remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

Amidst a somber farewell marked by a 16-gun salute, Gen. Ogolla was laid to rest on Saturday, leaving behind a legacy of courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to regional peace and security.
