Mother And Son Sent To Luzira Prison Over Forging Will

A mother and her 23-year-old son have been detained in Luzira prison on suspicion of falsifying a Will.

Margaret Nabakooza, who resides in Kira Municipality in Wakiso District, and her son, David Mutyaba, a scholar at Cavendish University, were brought before the court on Tuesday. They are accused of collaborating with a lawyer, Alice Nabakooza Nyombi, to fabricate powers of Attorney for Harriet Naboosa Joyce Kiwanuka. The state alleges that these purported powers of Attorney were granted to Mr. Mutyaba.

The duo is accused of presenting the falsified Will and powers of Attorney, dated October 29, 2020, to Kisubi Micheal Steven.

In addition, they are charged with meddling in the estate of the deceased Harriet Nabbosa, which includes her land in Kyukyumu, Kaliti, Senge, Nakulabye, and Najeera.

Despite denying the charges, Mutyaba and his mother were sent to prison until April 30, 2024, due to the absence of state prosecutors who are attending their annual symposium. They will return to court on this date for a potential bail hearing. The court issued a criminal summons for the accused lawyer, Nabakooza, who was not present in court.
