Teacher and students at St. Anthony Boys High School in Moiben Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, are mourning after one of their teachers took her own life.
According to reports, Madam Sharon Jelagat, a mother of two, committed suicide by drowning herself inside a borehole.
Local authorities, including the police and village leaders, swiftly responded to the scene, urging residents to share their struggles rather than resorting to such drastic measures.
The chief of the area condemned the act, emphasizing the importance of seeking help and fostering open dialogue about mental health challenges.
Sharon’s close friend took to her Facebook account and shared their last conversation. She said Sharon was kind to everyone around her.
Sharon’s death comes at a time when suicide cases are on the rise in the country. Hardly a week passes before several suicide cases are reported.
