Brig Kaija appointed as new Operation Wealth Creation chief staff officer

Brig James Kaija has been appointed the new Chief Staff Officer of Operation Wealth Creation.

Brig Kaija, who has been serving as UPDF Defence Attaché to the United Kingdom, takes over office from Brig Akiiki Rugadya who has served as OWC’s Chief Staff Officer for over seven years.

Operation Wealth Creation is one of the poverty eradication initiatives responsible for Coordinating government Ministries, Departments and Agencies for the socio-economic transformation of Ugandans.

The Deputy Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation Maj Gen Sam Kavuma, who presided over the take-over praised Brig Gen Rugadya for his contribution towards the success of Operation Wealth Creation. He added that transfers are healthy for the good performance of the organization.

“As you take over the office, prepare space for other comrades who will take over from you. There is no transfer aimed to malice anyone, these are routine military procedures,” Maj Gen Kavuma said.

Brig Rugadya acknowledged gaining vast experience during his tenure and served to the expectations of the appointing authority. In his acceptance speech, Brig Gen Kaija expressed his zeal for the new role, which encompasses both administrative and operational responsibilities within the institution.

“OWC plays a crucial role in overseeing government programs and policies and provides coordination mechanisms with MDAs. Our duty involves working with limited funding and resources. But I am confident in UPDF’s ability to deliver quality results despite challenges,” Brig Kaija said.

Brig Kaija said he will make valuable contributions to the institution’s effectiveness.
