The boy, Jordan Balimwikungu, was a day student at Mbarara Secondary School and lived in Kiswahili cell, Kakoba ward in Mbarara City. SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi regional police spokesperson, reported the incident.

The report indicates that the boy had gone swimming at Katete Beach in the same area. Upon receiving the report, the police initiated a search and rescue mission. However, as of Wednesday morning, the body had not been found.

The police fire and rescue department searched to retrieve the body on Tuesday, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The search for the body continues, and an investigation into the cause of the drowning has been launched.
