Top Economist Patrick Kateihwaho is Dead

Patrick Kateihwaho, one of Uganda’s finest economists and prominent auditor, is dead.

He was 53.

Kateihwaho reportedly slid and fell in his bathroom at his residence in Ministers’ Village, Ntinda, Kampala.

The incident occurred at around 11:00am on Friday.

Kateihwaho, who was recovering from an illness, was rushed to Independent Hospital in the neighboring Ntinda township.

Moments later, Kateihwaho was pronounced dead.

Friends said they will always remember the deceased’s razor-sharp wit, humour and courage.

“At a loss of words. Patrick Kateihwaho , there are few persons who came close to your knowledge of numbers, historical events in the world, understanding of Uganda in terms of socio-economic and political dynamics,” said city lawyer Edgar Tabaro.

“Attention to detail. Witty. Humorous. Down to earth. Stubborn when you wished to be. Generous. Very boisterous. Patriotic Ugandan. Till we meet again big bro!”

Kateihwaho was married to former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi’s daughter, Racheal Mbabazi.

The couple, which was blessed with children, had divorced at the time of Kateihwaho’s death.
