Sad: Unknown Assailants Rob, Murder 48yr Old Businessman in Butaleja

A businessman, aged 48 and a resident of Wihara Village in Busaba Sub County, Butaleja District, was tragically murdered and his motorcycle was stolen.

The murder of the man, known as Mwima David, occurred on the night of April 23, 2024, at Mulanga Village near Magongolo Swamp. IP Mugwe Johnson Moses, the Acting PRO of Bukedi South-Region provided this information. The swamp is a geographical feature that separates Budumba and Busaba Sub-Counties.

Mwima Aggrey, a 77-year-old man, discovered the body of the deceased in the early morning of April 23. He found the body when he went to weed his garden of cassava and maize. He noticed a dead body dumped in his garden, which is located in Mulanga Village near Magongolo Swamp.

Aggrey immediately reported the incident to the area chairman, who then notified the Budumba and Mulagi Police posts. The brother of the deceased, Isiiko Stephen, identified the body. Stephen confirmed that the deceased had left home around 7:00 PM with his motorcycle, but his destination was unknown.

The case was registered under SD ref 32/23/04/2024. A team of police officers from Cps Butaleja, Budumba Police staff, Mulagi Police Staff, Soco team, and a canine visited the scene. The sniffer dog was able to track from where the body was found up to approximately 50 metres before it stopped.

The body was transported to Mbale City mortuary for a postmortem examination. The deceased had a deep cut on his head, and his motorcycle was not found at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the body was dragged from the main road to the cassava garden, a distance of about 30 metres.

The tracking device of the deceased’s motorcycle was found at the scene. Additionally, a pair of grey and white sandals, which did not belong to the deceased, was also recovered from the scene.

According to preliminary findings shared by the widow, there is an unidentified individual who possibly called the deceased on his phone. This call might have led to his movement and subsequent murder. This individual is yet to be identified through tracking.
